@Nigel2572, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check for Low or Empty Ink Cartridges

  • Ensure that all ink cartridges are installed properly and have enough ink. If any cartridge is low or empty, replace it.
  • Go to the printer settings or the Hp Smart app software on your computer to check ink levels.

Clean the Printhead

  • Clogged printheads are a common cause of white lines or streaking. Cleaning the printhead can often resolve the issue.
    1. Open the printer’s settings or control panel.
    2. Look for the “Maintenance” or “Tools” section.
    3. Select the “Clean Printhead” option.
    4. If the problem persists, try running a deeper cleaning cycle (usually labeled as “Deep Cleaning”).

Check the Paper Type and Quality

  • Ensure that the paper you’re using is suitable for your printer and hasn’t become damp or wrinkled.
  • Use good quality, dry paper and make sure it’s properly loaded in the tray.

Perform a Printer Calibration

  • Sometimes, calibration is required to fix alignment or printing issues. This can also help with color and line problems.
  • You can find the calibration option in the printer’s settings or maintenance menu. Follow the on-screen instructions to calibrate.

Check for a Dirty or Damaged Scanner Glass (if copying)

  • If you see the lines when copying, inspect the scanner glass for dirt, smudges, or any scratches.
  • Clean the glass gently with a soft, lint-free cloth and some glass cleaner. Avoid using harsh chemicals or rough cloths.

Run a Test Print

  • Run a test print to see if the problem persists during printing or only affects copying.
  • Most printers have an option to print a diagnostic page or a nozzle check through their settings.

Check for Software or Driver Issues

  • Ensure that your printer driver is up to date. Sometimes, outdated or corrupted drivers can lead to printing issues.
  • Visit HP Support website to download and install the latest driver for your printer model.

Perform a Printer Reset

  • If none of the above works, resetting the printer to its factory settings can help resolve any software-related issues.
  • Refer to the printer’s user manual or settings menu for instructions on resetting the printer.

Check for Mechanical Issues

  • Inspect the printer’s internal parts, such as the rollers and print head, for any obvious issues like paper jams, worn-out rollers, or damaged components

I hope these steps help resolve the issue

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
