I just dealt with an old issue with ink cartridges (we had cancelled two years ago and every print job you had to bypass the notification about the cartridges. The person helping me was able to fix the problem but now the printer is not printing properly and I get a note that Pen Alignment Status: Fail. I have shut down, restarted, unplugged and run the alignment tool several times, no change. Anything else I can do.

- What are the ink levels on the cartridges?
Let's try these steps:
Step 1: Check the ink levels
- Touch the ink icon
and check the ink levels
- Replace any low or empty ink cartridges
Step 2: Clean the ink cartridges manually
- Remove the ink cartridges
- Clean the ink cartridges with a lint-free cloth
- Nozzle plate - DO NOT CLEAN
- The area surrounding ink nozzle - Do clean
- Cartridge contacts - DO NOT CLEAN
- Re-insert the ink cartridges
- Try to align the printer again
- Try to print, if the issue persists, proceed to the next step
Step 3: Clean the Print head
- On the printer control panel touch the
icon.
- Go to clean the print head
- This cleans the printer head and prints a report
- Restart the printer and try printing again.
- Check if the error goes off
- If the issue persists, try to clean the print head again
Also, try to print in a single cartridge mode to identify the faulty ink
- Remove any 1 of the ink cartridge
- Check if the printer prints without the error
- Swap the ink cartridge and try to print
