Hi there! I bought some photo paper today to print off some posters and everything is absolutely fine except for the fact it keeps coming out squinted and unaligned. I've aligned the cartridges and everything is clean/up to date and it even prints straight on normal A4 paper but for some reason it can't print on the A4 photo paper straight despite being put in the tray in exactly the same way? I've tried different settings and adjusted the tray but nothing seems to work. please help!

Hi @Sparky3101,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e printer is not aligning photo paper correctly, there could be several factors at play. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Check Paper Quality and Type
- Paper Quality: Ensure you are using high-quality photo paper that is compatible with your printer.
- Paper Type: Verify that the paper type is correctly selected in the printer settings. For example, if you're using glossy photo paper, make sure this is selected in the print settings.
2. Load Paper Correctly
- Align Paper: Make sure the photo paper is properly aligned in the tray. It should be straight and fit snugly against the paper guides.
- Paper Guides: Adjust the paper guides in the tray to fit snugly against the edges of the photo paper without bending it.
3. Printer Settings
- Print Settings: In your print dialog box on the computer, make sure the paper size and type match the photo paper you are using. Also, select the correct print quality setting for photo paper.
- Go to Print > Printer Properties > Paper/Quality tab and select the correct paper type and quality.
- Borderless Printing: If you are printing borderless photos, ensure this option is selected in the print settings.
4. Test with a Different Photo Paper
- Try a different brand or batch of photo paper to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, specific photo papers might not feed correctly.
5. Calibrate the Printer
- Alignment: Perform a printhead alignment if you haven't already.
- Go to Printer Settings > Tools > Align Printhead and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Paper Handling Settings: Check if there are any advanced paper handling settings that might need adjustment.
6. Check for Firmware Updates
- Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Firmware updates can resolve bugs and improve performance.
- Check the HP website for the latest firmware updates for your printer model.
7. Clean the Rollers
- Dust or debris on the rollers can cause paper misalignment. Clean the paper feed rollers to ensure smooth paper feeding.
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Open the access door and locate the rollers.
- Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the rollers.
8. Print a Test Page
- Print a test page to see if the issue occurs with all types of print jobs or only with photo printing.
9. Adjust Print Margins
- Adjust the print margins in your document or photo editing software. Sometimes, reducing the margins can help with alignment issues.
10. Use the Rear Paper Feed (if available)
- If your printer has a rear paper feed option, try using it. Rear feeds can sometimes handle photo paper better than front or bottom feeds.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Rachel, thank you for this! I've tried everything noted here and whilst there's been some improvement in aligning it's still not fully centred. I've cleaned everything thoroughly, aligned it correctly even bought HP photo paper specifically and it's still not working. I tested it on regular a4 paper and it's doing the same thing. Everything is aligned in the photo tray before it goes into the printer it just won't print on the centre when it comes out. I'm not really sure what to do next it may be a case of getting a new printer but I'm determined to try and sort this one. any more advice?
printer is a hp envy photo 7100 all-in-one printer series and is in near perfect condition and hasn't had many issues before now
