Two problems. I was having difficulty getting the printer to give me "black" using HP cartridges so decided to reinstall the software. Now I have the problem of "filter failed" if I use the MacBook Air. Tried printed direct from IPAd and works ok although I still cannot see if it is printing in a bold black. However, it is "filter failed" which is causing the problem. Can someone give me some instructions how to resolve this issue. If HP support are aware of the problem, please help. 70 year old with basic knowledge of jargon. Thanks

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are getting a filter failed error when you try printing.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
HP Photosmart 5510 Printer is AirPrint compatible. If the printer is connected to your home network, use the following steps to remove the existing printer driver, and set up the printer with Apple AirPrint.
Please ensure that the Mac is up to date with its software. If you are unsure you may use the steps available here to update Mac software.
1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.
3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.
4.) Click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.
5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint or secure AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.
6.) Try to print.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
