HP Photosmart 7520 all-in-one
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My Photosmart 7520 printer has started printing only half of a line vertically on about every fourth or fifth line.  This happens only when printing with black ink.  Printing in color prints correctly.  I thought it might be the cartridge so I replace it with a fresh one.  This did not solve the problem.  I have gone through the Clean Print heads & Align print heads several times but to no avail.  As I said, it only does this with the black ink.  If there are any color words in the document, they will print okay.  I'm at wits end.  Please, somebody, help.

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

I understand that you have an HP Photosmart 7520 e-All-in-One Printer and it prints only half of a line vertically on bout every fourth or the fifth line. This happens when printing only in black color. Other colors print fine. I read that you have cleaned the printhead and even aligned it. Also, a new black ink cartridge is installed. You've done a remarkable job performing the steps. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.

This clearly indicates towards a printhead issue. However, I request you to clean the print head manually and check if this helps. Please refer to "Step 8: Clean the printhead manually" from this link.

Hopefully, this should help. However, if the problem persists then I suggest you to reach out to our HP phone support to explore the hardware service options for your HP printer.

I hope this information helps. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Cheers! 🙂

I just wanted to let you know that I cleaned my printhead according to the instructions you sent me & so far everything is working beautifully.  That head was really messed up with gooy ink.  Thank you for saving me $$$$ in purchasing a new printer.  This fix cost me zero dollars.
