I recently had to do a full system reinstall, and so have downloaded new copies of the printer software, and also Disc Cover, which I have used for some years on printable CDRs. However, I now seem to be unable to do so. After inserting the CD tray, I get the message 'Now use CD/DVD software to print', but on selecting print from the Disc Cover menu, I get the message 'Close tray to resume printing' - when of course it prints onto paper from the paper tray. Is this a HP problem, or a Disc Cover problem?

Hello, @JTGray – Hope you are well 🙂
Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a great location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!
I understand that you are having issues while printing on CD using the Photosmart printer. This could be an issue with the printing software. Try to perform the steps below and see if that helps:
- Uninstall the old printer drivers first. Follow the steps mentioned here: http://hp.care/2cKwLyC
- Now run the Apple Software Update. Check here for steps: http://hp.care/2cNgw3C
- Restart your computer and printer.
- Click the Apple menu icon, and then click “System Preferences”.
- Click “Printers and Scanner” / “Print and Scan” or “Print and Fax”.
- Right-click the blank space in the Printers list, and then click “Reset printing system”.
- Click “Reset” in the confirmation window.
- Enter an administrator username and password, and then click “OK”.
- Wait until the printing system is reset and no devices show in the Printers list
- Restart your computer and then go back to System preferences – Printers and scanners.
- Click the “Add button” (+).
- Find, and then select the name of your printer from the printer list, and then click “Add” to add your printer.
- Click “Print Using...”, and then select the name of your printer (By default “Airprint” would be selected)
Now, uninstall and reinstall the CD printing program and then try again.
Those steps should do the trick, let me know the outcome!
Good luck 🙂
