Cannot print. Checked status and message says printer is ready and wifi ok. But a message appears saying printer in an error state, when I try to print? Have switched on and off to no avail.

Hi @MarianE1,

Thank you for the response.

Let’s go through a few checks.

Clear Any Hidden or Stuck Print Jobs

  1. On your computer, go to Settings > Printers & scanners.
  2. Select your printer → Open print queue.
  3. Cancel all jobs (even if it looks empty, refresh once).
  4. Restart your computer.
  5. Turn the printer OFF, wait 30 seconds, then turn it back ON.

Note: Jobs can get stuck even when the queue appears empty.

Restart Print Spooler (Windows)

  1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc, press Enter.
  2. Find “Print Spooler.”
  3. Right-click → Restart.
  4. Wait 10 seconds.
  5. Try printing a test page.

Check Printer Status (Offline / Error Mode)

  1. Go to Settings > Printers & scanners.
  2. Select your printer.
  3. Click “Open print queue.”
  4. Click “Printer” menu.
  5. Ensure “Use Printer Offline” is unchecked.

Re-add the Printer (Clean Setup)

  1. Go to Settings > Printers & scanners.
  2. Remove the HP ENVY 6100e printer.
  3. Restart your computer.
  4. Click “Add device” and reconnect the printer.
  5. Select the correct version (avoid duplicates like “Copy 1”).

Reset Printer Connection

  1. Turn the printer ON.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Plug it back in and allow it to restart.
  5. Reconnect it to Wi-Fi if prompted.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

When I try to print -   sometimes the message gets to the printer as I can see on printer screen but it doesn't actually print - just keeps running over the same screen then gives me the option to cancel.  When I press cancel - the message does not disappear from the screen until I turn off the printer?? Other times it states the printer is in an error state?  So I am guessing the problem is between the computer and printer somewhere, some king of blockage but dont know where!  Looking on HP smart it all looks fine as far as wifi is concerned, nothing in printer Q. Have tried Restore but it didnt help. Do I need to uninstall and start again??  Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks
