Hi @Lamehat
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like your HP Ink Tank Wireless 419 is experiencing an issue where it detects the printer door as being open even though it appears to be closed. This can happen due to a sensor issue, a hardware malfunction, or something causing the printer to misinterpret its status.
Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue:
1. Check the Door Sensors and Latches
- Inspect the door sensors: Sometimes, the door sensor or the mechanism that detects whether the ink cartridge door is properly closed can get blocked by dust or ink. Ensure there is no debris, ink, or paper blocking the sensor on the door or around the latch.
- Check for misalignment: If the ink cartridge door isn’t fully aligned or closed properly, the sensor might not detect it as closed. Open and close the door several times to ensure it clicks into place securely.
2. Clean the Door and Sensor Area
- Clean the sensor area: Use a soft cloth to clean around the door and the sensor area. Be careful not to damage any small components. Dust or ink buildup can cause the printer to falsely detect that the door is open.
- Use compressed air: If there’s any dust or small debris inside the printer, use a can of compressed air to gently blow it out. Make sure there are no obstructions around the ink cartridge area or door sensors.
3. Check the Ink Cartridge Compartment
- Ensure proper installation: Double-check that the ink cartridges are properly seated and in place. Sometimes, a cartridge might appear to be inserted, but it might not be fully engaged, which could cause the door sensor to read the compartment as open.
- Look for any obstructions: Make sure nothing is physically obstructing the movement of the printer head or preventing the door from fully closing.
4. Perform a Printer Reset Again (Hard Reset)
Since you’ve already tried a hard reset, ensure that it’s done correctly:
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the printer from the power source for about 30 seconds.
- While unplugged, open the ink cartridge door and check for any paper or debris that might be blocking the printer's operation.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
This can sometimes reset the printer's internal sensors and clear minor glitches.
5. Check the Firmware
- Firmware update: If the printer’s firmware is outdated, it might not recognize the door sensor properly. You can check for a firmware update via the HP Smart app or the HP printer software installed on your computer. Updating the firmware could resolve issues related to hardware recognition.
I hope this helps.
