Hi @msketch,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand that you're experiencing issues with your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printer and receiving error messages. Let's troubleshoot the problem step by step.
- Check for Paper Jams: Make sure there are no paper jams in the printer. Open all access doors and check for any stuck paper. If you find any, carefully remove it.
- Verify Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the ink cartridges are correctly installed. Open the printer cover and make sure each cartridge is securely in place.
- Inspect Cartridges: Check the ink cartridges for any signs of damage or leaks. If you notice any issues, replace the cartridges with new ones.
- Update Printer Firmware: Visit the HP support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model. If updates are available, download and install them.
- Restart the Printer and Computer: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Also, restart your computer. After a few minutes, reconnect the printer and turn it back on.
- Check for Connectivity Issues: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. If you're using a USB connection, try using a different USB port. If you're using a wireless connection, check the wireless settings on the printer.
- Print a Test Page: Use the printer control panel to print a test page. This can help you identify whether the issue is specific to a particular document or if it's a broader problem.
- Check for Software Issues: Verify that the printer software on your computer is correctly installed and up to date. If necessary, uninstall the printer software and reinstall it from the official HP website.
- Reset the Printer: Perform a factory reset on the printer. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this. Keep in mind that a factory reset will erase custom settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
