Hi @Noma7,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Experiencing cartridge failure with an HP printer can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

  • Verify Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the cartridges you're using are compatible with your HP printer model. Using cartridges that are not designed for your specific printer can result in compatibility issues and cartridge failure.
  • Check Cartridge Installation: Make sure the cartridges are correctly installed in their respective slots. Open the printer cover and carefully remove and reinsert each cartridge to ensure they are properly seated.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes, dirt or residue on the cartridge contacts can interfere with communication between the cartridge and the printer. Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water to gently clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridge and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.
  • Restart Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on again. Sometimes, a simple reset can resolve temporary communication errors.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. HP occasionally releases firmware updates to address issues and improve performance, including compatibility with cartridges.
  • Replace Cartridges: If you've tried the above steps and continue to experience cartridge failure, try replacing the problematic cartridge with a new one. It's possible that the cartridge itself is defective or nearing the end of its usable life.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Dear Rachel. I appreciate your reaching out. Please forgive my late response. I'm not sure if I understand the error on my printer. As far as I understand, my printer has no cartridges but rather ink tanks and printheads. So I'm unsure how to troubleshoot. The sales person at Makro advised me to perform a flush because maybe there is a blockage somewhere.

Are you able to advise, rather, how to perform ink tank and printhead maintenance? Your assistance will be much appreciated

Also, the printer has been in use for almost 2 years, though not frequently. So it cannot be an incompatibility issue because I haven't changed any parts since I started using it
