Keeps setting a print head problem message which doesn’t allow even trying to activate head cleaning.

@Marty156, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printhead issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I see that your HP OfficeJet 6230 is showing a printhead problem message, preventing you from running a printhead cleaning. I know how frustrating that can be, but let's try a few steps to get this sorted.

Power Reset the Printer

While the printer is on, disconnect the power cable from the back.

Unplug it from the wall and wait about 2-3 minutes.

Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check the Ink Cartridges

Open the ink cartridge door and remove all the cartridges.

Carefully wipe the electrical contacts on both the cartridges and the printhead using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.

Reinsert the cartridges and close the door.

Reseat the Printhead (If Removable)

If your model allows, gently remove the printhead and clean the electrical contacts.

Reinstall it and make sure it clicks into place.

Check for Firmware Updates

Outdated firmware can sometimes cause printhead-related errors.

You can update it by visiting HP Software and Drivers and searching for your printer model.

A Few Questions to Narrow It Down:

Did this issue start after replacing ink cartridges, or did it happen randomly?

Are you using genuine HP cartridges, or are they refilled/remanufactured? (Sometimes, non-HP ink can trigger printhead errors.)

Do you see any visible ink leaks or dried ink on the printhead area?

Try these steps, and let me know what happens! If the issue persists, we may need to explore further options.

Looking forward to your update. 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
