HP Envy 5660
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

     Hi;  I have an HP Envy 5660 and just out of the blue today i went to print from my computer and it says error code 0x80004005 in the print dialogue box on my computer. There are no error warnings on the printer itself. It is connected wirelessly to the router and the wi-fi signal is good. I have unplugged it and removed the ink cartridges and restarted it and all seems normal on the printer. Does anyone have any ideas?

@Bullmule,

I read the post and reviewed it as well. It is awesome to hear from you again and I am happy that the issue is resolved.

If any of my suggested steps helped including the link for "Printer Not Found During Network Driver Setup" that clearly gives steps to disable the firewall helped.

 If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂

@Bullmule,

Good Day. Thank you for reaching out to the community. I reviewed the post. I will be delighted to assist you here.

  • Did this occur after a recent power outage or surge?
  • DId it happen after a software or Windows update?
  • Did you run HP print and scan doctor and check again?

Let's try these steps:

If the issue continues, then uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers at the root level by following these steps:

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Then download the latest full feature driver from https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-envy-5660-e-all-in-one-printer-series/... selecting the correct operating system.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

This should fix it for you.

If it continues, then perform all the relevant steps from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-envy-5660-e-all-in-one-printer-series/6809225/document/c0375... (HP Printers - Printer Not Found During Network Driver Setup (Windows)

Assigning a manual IP address will be important.

This should work for you.

Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂

After several hours and both resetting the printer and attempting to run print and scan doctor, ( Pasd. would freeze up on my screen and i would have to re-start my computer to clear it), it connected and began to work. As i continued over and over to run the windows troubleshooter i ran accross an article on firewalls. I knew that running two different anti-virus and firewall programs was not good and would cause issues, i checked again in settings and the control center to make sure that windows defender firewall was off and only my Bitdefender was running, and that was the case. As i was trying to run the print and scan doctor after about 7 hrs. i noticed up in the top left corner there was a selection that included network so instead of clicking on fix issues which i knew would just lock up my screen again i clicked on network and it included a link to firewalls. It had an option to enable windows firewall or disable and i clicked on disable there and without finishing with print and scan doctor i went to troubleshooting in settings on my computer, ran it and my printer started working.  This whole time my computer was telling me that windows defender firewall was off and apparently it wasnt. Keep in mind that i had tried all of these solutions over and over again and then all of the sudden it worked. As i sit here now i cant tell you exactly how i got there but i do know it was a link in print and scan doctor that i clicked before finishing with fix issues in print and scan doctor. Really strange because there had been no windows updates and i routinely check to make sure that windows defender is off and only my Bitdefender is running to avoid conflicts. I did not want to go to all the trouble of unistalling and reinstalling all of the software to run the printer. I hope this helps someone else with the same issue.
