Some time ago, I shifted from PORTRAIT to LANDSCAPE mode and printed two pages to one Landscape page.  Of course I DID reverse it to normal 'properties/layout/portrait' one page a sheet (all 'normal' settings.'   Now when I print I can print ALL PAGES NORMALLY in landscape 8x12 standard form.  However, If I select CURRENT VIEW (one page only) the printer SLICES the top 1/4th of the page off, and the bottom 1/4th page, printing only the remaining middle-part of the 'current view' page.  This is awful.  I have a) unplugged & replugged the power.  b) unplugged and replugged the Ethernet cable to my Win10 desktop.  and c) I have downloaded and attempted to install the drivers from scratch.   Doing that, I ran HP print & scan doctor, current version 5.2.1 .... run that, had it find some 'fix'.... had it print a normal TEST PAGE but **bleep**!  The 'current view' printing is still broken.  I can't simply look at a single desired page and print it with normal output.  I get the sliced and squished view only.  Help.

@frnkcox6 Welcome to HP Forums Community!

Does the issue occur while using the copier as a stand-alone device as well? if you haven't checked please do as that would help us determine if this is either a hardware or a software issue,

If the copier works fine, it's not the printer hardware, hence the best way forward is to reinstall the drivers from root level using the below steps for starters:

  • Press "Windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window.
  • Type "services.msc" to get Services - Go to "Print spooler" - Right-click and "Stop" the service.
  • Now again open "Run" - Type "spool" and ok - Go to PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.
  • Go to services again - Start the print spooler.
  • Now check for issue resolution.
  • If the issue persists, unplug the USB cable from the printer (if present).
  • Go to Control panel - Programs and feature - Select all the HP printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel - Devices and printer - Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type - "c:/programdata" - Go to the Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.

Then, use this link to access the HP website, find the drivers compatible with your windows and install it: Click here

I'm done - and the problem persists.  I took an hour out of my day (big deal for me) and carefully followed every step.   Deleted every trace (again) of HP software / spool / driver on my PC.  Disconnected the cable.  Downloaded again & reinstalled ... the PC couldn't see the printer until I used the Win10 Troubleshooter.  The install page hung up on an obscure 'enter the IP number' requirement.    I then ran HP Print Doctor 5.2.1 that did more fixes.  I can print normally EXCEPT when I print a PDF using Foxit PDF Printer.   Everything works fine except the 'print range - current view'.  That compresses the page to a slice of the middle of the standard 8x12.5 page.... the problem persists.  Maybe the problem is with Foxit PDF reader (that I've used for years w/o problems).  Maybe bad luck.  I'll just SELECT THE PARTICULAR PAGE NUMBER and print that page ... which is the same effect as 'print range-current view.'  I'm done.  The printer is in a tiny dark cubby hole ... getting to the back of the printer, reading tiny window (lots in front of the printer), and reinstalling everything cost me an hour I didn't have.  Just done.

@frnkcox6,

As you have tried all possible troubleshooting steps and unfortunately nothing has helped to resolve this issue.

This could indicate the issue could be with the Operating system. So let's try to Uninstall the printer drivers and then create a new user account.

For more details, please follow the steps from this support document. Click here

Once done, restart the computer and then reinstall the printer software.

Alternatively, you can also try to print using HP Smart App - HP Printers - Using the HP Smart App (Windows 10)

Let me know the outcome!

Cheers 🙂
