Hi, I think it's been asked before but I can't find an answer. Which HP print server(s) would work with a Laserjet 1018? Has anyone tested and can verify some options? I've had the printer since 2004 and it's still going strong; I'd like to continue to use it but have it shared on the network so my desktop doesn't have to be on all the time. Any help is appreciated!

I worry a little in suggesting a print server for a host based printer as the driver may not want to play nice with an adapter. If an HP adapter works then really any adapter by companies like StarTech would work as well. To give you a little background, this model uses what is referred to as a host based driver. The printer itself has no ability to format or interpret data from a print stream. The driver on the computer does all that work and just sends a complete ready to print page to the printer. This is different from most printers in that the printer contains a PCL circuit that formats the data in the printer.
That should not make a difference, but I cannot give you a 100% guarantee it will work.
