I damaged my printer by traveling with it and didn't think to remove ink cartridges first. There was some black ink leakage. I saw minimal in the printer and thought it was all removed. It printed fine during the first power up. Since then, it powers up (green light at internal battery) but the control panel does not turn on. I therefore cannot access the ink cartridges to explore for more ink damage that must have caused this. The printer age is unknown but is confirmed to be beyond warranty. It is a $699.00 printer though so question is: do I purchase a replacement control panel on assumption that the ink spill caused this and I should be able to follow videos online to do this as a DIY project, or should I take it to a repair shop? Note that I took it on a trip where I would have time to correct a recent print problem - configuration error when trying to print pdf files. This problem had not been resolved yet and the printer is useless to me if you don't think this issue is likely to be fixable as well.

@Kathy_B70-, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
That's unfortunate. I doubt there is a replacement control panel/display assembly available for the printer. You may take it to a local shop for repair or please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.
Keep me posted for any other assistance.
