HP Deskjet 2130
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi guys

My HP Deskjet 2130 is not printing anything in Black Ink unless I select 'glossy paper setting'. Not even 'mate presentation paper' setting works.  I saw this suggestion to change setting to 'glossy paper' somewhere and suprisingly it works

For the colour side it's normal and on the test page only the Black doesn't print properly.

The black ink isn't full but it's also probably at 25-30% minimum.

What might be causing this issue? By printing on glossy setting I am getting very thick black which I suppose consume more ink although I have no need for such dense print. Not to mention the hassle of changing print settings when all you need is plain paper.

Cheers

Replace the black ink cartridge and your printer will print black fine again on the plain paper settings.

When you use glossy setting printer mixes all 3 colours to print black and you are wasting your colour ink.

Hi, just wondering why there is no ink alert though? If black ink really is low.

I was wary of changing the black ink and wasting what seems from the graphic to be like 25% black ink.

So  maybe the ink alert is the issue here

The ink level is just an estimate the actual ink level may vary, it's explained in the user manual. The ink cartridge needs to be replaced when print quality is not acceptable any more also explained in the user manual.
