Hello @MARY0502 ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

The “Extra Data” error on the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 4303fdw usually means the printer received corrupted, unsupported, or leftover print data and stopped the job to protect itself.

Follow the steps in order below.

Step 1: Clear the print queue (most important)

On your computer, open Control Panel

Go to Devices and Printers

Right-click HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 4303fdw

Click See what’s printing

Click Printer (top menu)

Uncheck Pause Printing

Uncheck Use Printer Offline

Click Cancel All Documents

Close the window.

Step 2: Restart the printer (power reset)

Turn the printer OFF

Unplug the power cable

Wait 60 seconds

Plug it back in and turn it ON

Step 3: Restart Print Spooler (Windows)

Press Windows + R

Type services.msc → Enter

Find Print Spooler

Right-click → Restart

Close the window.

Step 4: Update or reinstall the printer driver

Remove the printer from Devices and Printers

Download HP Universal Print Driver – PCL6

Reinstall the printer using this driver

Set it as Default Printer.

Step 5: Check printer port settings

Devices and Printers → Right-click printer → Printer Properties

Go to Ports

Select the correct port:

USB → USB001

Network → Standard TCP/IP Port

Click Configure Port

Uncheck SNMP Status Enabled

Click OK

Step 6: Test with a simple document
