Microsoft Windows 11

Suddenly, while trying to print, the printer stopped and indicated a paper jam.  Checked several times - no paper jam.  Then it started showing the above error code.  I have done everything I have researched and still keeps showing error and is not printing.  What now?

Try the below suggestions -

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Try the steps in the document --Resolving 'Print System Problem', 'Problem with Ink System' Errors

If the issue persists, I'd suggest you contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your printer

Hope this helps!

As I originally stated, I have tried the HP method several times to no avail.  I still get the same error message.

Method 1: Clean Ink Cartridges

Steps to Clean Ink Cartridges:

  • Switch Off the HP Printer.
  • Remove all the wires attached to the device.
  • Open the printer head and navigate to the place where ink cartridges are inserted.
  • Remove the cartridges.
  • Inspect them and look for any clogged vents.
  • Clean the vents (If there) by using the pin.
  • Once done utilize a clean cloth to wipe our dust or particles and also clean the accumulated ink on the print head.
  • Now, reinsert the ink cartridges into the HP Printer and make sure that they are inserted properly.
  • Once done try to run a print test to check whether the issue has been fixed or not.

Method 2: Perform a Complete Printer Reset

Steps to reset the HP Printer:

  • First of all, Turn Off the HP Printer and let it completely switch off.
  • Once done, unplug all the wires attached to it including the USB cable and the power cord as well.
  • Now show some patience and wait for few minutes before moving on to the next step.
  • Re-plug all the wires including the USB cable and the power cord to the HP Printer.
  • Turn the HP Printer On and let it become stable.
  • Once done with all the above-mentioned steps, you can check the status of the issue by initiating a run test. You can try to print any document of paper to check whether the Error 0x6100004a has been fixed or not.

Regards,

Peter

Spoiler
I had exactly the same issue on the same day. It also happened to be the day that HP checked my system automatically and shipped new HP Instant  Ink cartridges according to the confirmation email. I have repeatedly gone through every step listed in these responses, including leaving it unplugged over night. Still the same error message. Can you guys check to see if your online diagnostic is glitched?
