I am getting a Printer Failure error that states:
PRINTER FAILURE
There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. if problem persists contact HP.
Obviously I restarted it several times. left it unplugged for a while etc. Phone support is not available due to out of warranty. Please provide the solution ASAP.
Thanks

Welcome to HP Community
I have gone through your Post and would like to help
- Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 30 seconds.
- Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector and printer.
- Turn on the printer.
Reseat the printhead up to three times
-
Slip your fingers into the slot on the left side of the printer, and then pull forward to open the cartridge access door. The carriage moves to the left side of the printer. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before proceeding.

Gently rock the printhead to the left and right to make sure that the printhead fully seats in the carriage.
-
Lower the carriage latch.

If the printer does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
-
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Update the printer firmware. Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168
If the issue persists then it would be a Hardware issue

Thank you for the detailed options with pictures. I will save that if I ever have another issue. I am embarrassed to say my Cyan ink cartridge was empty and that was the issue. I thought I had recently changed that one so when the error occurred I only checked the black cartridge initially.
Long story short, I took out each cartridge to make sure they had ink and replaced the empty one and that solved my issue.
not sure why i got this weird error for an empty ink cartridge but whatever.
Hopefully this post helps someone else faster than it took me
