My printer comes on and off but there is this error message on the screen

how do I resolve this issue. There is no paper Jam

The error code 0x61000048 on your HP printer typically indicates a carriage jam or internal hardware issue, even if there's no visible paper jam. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you resolve this:

 

Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from the back.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn the printer on.
  • Check if the error persists.

Check for Obstructions

Even if there's no paper jam:

  • Open the printer access door.
  • Gently move the carriage (ink cartridge holder) side to side to ensure it moves freely.
  • Look for any small bits of paper or debris and remove them carefully.

Reset the Printer

  • Disconnect the power cord while the printer is on.
  • Unplug it from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.

4. Use HP Smart’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

If the issue persists, use HP’s built-in diagnostic tool:

  • Download or open the HP Smart app: HP Smart
  • Go to “Diagnose & Fix” in the app.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to automatically detect and resolve issues.

Update Firmware and Drivers

  • Visit HP Printer Support.
  • Enter your printer model and download the latest firmware and drivers.
