Mac 2019 Air Sonoma 14.6

Laserjet Pro M201dw

I did ALL the trouble shooting steps with reinstalling, resetting, Easy Start, HP Smart... hooked printer up to Mac because it couldn't find it wirelessly after deleting the Printer.  Used Diagnose and fix - said it had a print que problem and printed test page, configuration report, wireless network report ... by pushing the "I" button on printer   Says everything is working perfectly

Cannot print from computer - says Printer is Paused - I push the 'arrow' in the printer utilities button, says connecting to printer, printing - nothing happens and it goes back to paused again.

If I try to print from the HP online app will only print PDFs not any Word docs.  Sometimes will print an email text. HELP!

Seems to be specific to Sonoma 14.6 machines. Printer works fine from IOS devices.

Thanks - will not work on my mobile iPhone 12 mini either - won't connect -  I upgraded router settings and now it won't connect at all.  It's out of pause - but in 'looking for computer mode now'

I'm having the same issue with the same computer/ Air and Sonoma 14.6.1 suddenly I have lost the ability to use the printer, it was working a week ago and now it is stuck in pause mode. I can't unpause it. I have updated firmware, drivers, restarted and frustrated myself for a few hours to no avail. Nothing has helped.

I just tried from my iPhone - no issues printing from that, just from my MacBook air M1

Try this—worked for me:

With help from Apple Support.... went into System Settings, clicked on Printers & Scanners. Clicked on my printer, brings up a dialog box. Hit the Options & Supplies Tab, then the "Show Printer Web Page" Tab. This brought up the HP site in my Browser. Hit certificates on the LH side, brings up a new page. Hitting the "View" Tab under Status confirmed my certificate was expired. Hitting the "Configure" Tab under Installed brings up the next page in the browser. The first button is "Create a New Self Signed Certificate", I hit that. Follow the prompts and confirmed with the View Tab that it gave me another year on the Certificate. All computers fixed and can once again can print. Not sure if I can edit to make it longer than a year to expire, will try that later. Just glad that it's working again.

Yes! This works! My cert expired 8/1/24. I renewed it and it is for a year. Another user on the Apple forum said that date was editable so I may try to go back and edit that so I don't have to deal with this next year.

Thanks you so much, that fixed my problem!   Set the new certificate to 10 years.  HP you should come up with an easier fix or write a support document because I am sure a LOT of people will have this problem.

I have exactly the same issue.  So frustrating.  Was working then suddenly not.   spent 6 hours on the phone with Apple and 3 with HP.  No one claims it's their issue.  Cleaned my machine and started over.  Same problem. Is anyone going to help us out here?  Printing from HP Smart is a pain in the neck and doesn't always print all formats.
