I guess I'll never know if this works, because the printer doesn't recognize the password I set (at least, not as I noted it in my list of passwords).

Thanks, anyway.

Hi guys. not sure if anyone has actually been helped with a great answer yet from what i have read so far.

having just bought the all in one 5540 myself i found to be in the same situation as everyone else.

tried a few normal things and things that have been posted but all left me with a unsecured connection.

However i accidently stumbled across a solution.

get your printers ip address should be 192.xxx.x.x

after the page has loaded go to settings then to security .

from there you should be able to set up a password and enable the security from there.

Hope this helps
