Ever since installing the printer my documents wont print correctly, any boarders are cut off and the bottom wont print. It says it is out of the printable area, this never was an issue with the old printer. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and all that jazz mentioned on other threads but this hasn't made a difference. I have also checked the document settings and everything is normal, its not like the border is right next to the edge of the page either, there should be plenty of room.

Also I tried what you mentioned to minimize margin settings but I couldn't find anything. There is no advanced tab I can find under printers that has that option.

Generally, the solution is to drag the footer area up to accommodate the larger margin that this printer requires on the bottom.

Adjust the footer up to the point where the printer does complain about "out of printable area".

What else?

Depending on the software you are using to view and submit the job to the printer, you might be able to use a "Fit" option to shove the printable content onto the available printable area on the paper.

What else?

I am unclear about "all that jazz" but if a complete clearing - total uninstall / install - of the software does not help, another option is to consider a power restart.

Step 2 - Printer Restart

What else?

Complete the Printer Report Tests to see whether the printer is aligned and working as expected.

NOTE:  Since the printer behavior has been consistent since new, this is NOT likely the source of the problem.

God that bottom margin is ridiculously large compared to the others. I think I am better off finding a different printer than screwing up my documents just sot hey will print. Really unimpressed with this printer, doesn't seem to be good for much at all in my opinion. Having to readjust my document so the footer is in the printable area will mean changing the look of my document as things will now be uneven. Yeah this printer seems like its really just a waste of money at this point.

You are welcome, although I can tell you are not happy with the solution.

If you decide to do so, it might well be enough to format your Word document with "Narrow" margins.  The result, depending on your formatting and font selections, can be a crisp and professional looking document.   Narrow Margins = 1/2 inch on all sides.

What about that printer?

Why is it the way it is?

Deskjet printers are, design, budget printers for the most part.  They lack the features of more expensive printer series and are primarily meant for casual printing.

This model series was introduced back in 2016

When you replace the printer, keep in mind the features you want and shop accordingly.

If you check / shop at the HP Store, you can check specifications and features and even compare models.

Still not sure?

Take the time to read the Specifications and the User Guide.

Search for the printer Datasheet on the 'net.

Consider upgrading to the Officejet Pro series - these printers will likely provide the features you expect and some extras you have not used.

Stay Safe
