When I try alignment ... my HP scans then just stops and the “scanning” display just says scanning and never aligns..... stuck on scanning.... with little light bar moving... saying scanning ... yesterday I did not touch for an hour.... still said scanning. .. but never did align

I'd like to help!
Reset the product
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
Also, try updating the printer's firmware -HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
On the printer touch copy and lift the lid and check if the scanner lights up and if it moves.

Hi - I did all your steps... and then the computer just showed me “scanning the alignment “for about an hour.... See picture below for better explanation.
this did not fix the problem ... still unable to print a document correctly as alignment is off.
