HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Installed 4 new cartridges as old ones were depleted. Initially, the printer accepted the cartridges. Tried to print but received an error stating the file could not print. Now has an error stating: "There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persists, contact HP. Followed this step, but the same error occurred. Follower virtual TS steps, including power down for 60 seconds and wiping contacts with lint-free cloth. No change, the same error occurs.

Hi @jrysatx,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're encountering a persistent printer cartridge error despite trying several troubleshooting steps. When faced with such issues, it's essential to exhaust all possible solutions before seeking further assistance. Here are additional steps you can try to resolve the problem:

Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the new cartridges are correctly installed in their respective slots. Double-check that each cartridge is securely seated and that you've removed any protective seals or tapes from the cartridges before installation.

Verify Cartridge Compatibility: Confirm that the cartridges you've installed are compatible with your printer model. Using incompatible or counterfeit cartridges can result in errors and malfunctions.

Inspect Cartridge Contacts: Carefully examine the electrical contacts on both the cartridges and the corresponding contacts inside the printer. Clean them gently with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to remove any dust, debris, or ink residue that may be interfering with communication.

Run Printer Diagnostics: Most HP printers come with built-in diagnostic tools that can help identify and troubleshoot cartridge-related issues. Check your printer's manual or online documentation for instructions on how to run diagnostics or print a diagnostic report.

Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. HP periodically releases firmware updates to address compatibility issues and improve printer performance. Check for firmware updates through the printer's control panel menu or by visiting the HP support website.

Perform a Hard Reset: Try performing a hard reset on your printer by disconnecting the power cord from the rear of the printer while it's still turned on. Wait for about 60 seconds, then reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
