HP OfficeJet 4650 series all-in-one error message" color was changed to monochrome because of a conflict with another printer setting"
It does not say what setting or where or how to fix it and automatically changes it back to monochrome.
It will copy in color but not from the web, pictures desktop.
HELP PLEASE I am going crazy!

Hi @nin056 ,
Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
As I understand you are facing printing issues with the printer.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
How long are you facing this issue?
Any software or hardware changes before this happened?
Meanwhile you can follow the steps given below:
This issue could occur if the black only option is not unchecked in the drivers.
Let's go through a few steps to resolve this issue.
-
In your software application, click Print.
-
Select your printer from the list of available printers.
-
Click the option that opens the Printer Properties dialog box.
Depending on your software application, this button might be called Properties, Options, Printer Setup, Printer Properties, Printer, or Preferences.
-
On the properties window, click the Paper/Quality or Features tab, depending on your software.
-
Click Advanced, click Print in Grayscale, and then de-select Print in Grayscale or High-Quality Grayscale.
-
Click OK to complete the change.
Let me know how that pans out.
I hope you have a good day ahead,
And Feel free to ask any other queries as well,
Considering, this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help. 😉

HEllo, I followed the instructions as provided and I still have the same problem. The printer, HP Officejet 5740, does not give me the option to change from monochrome to color on the settings, nor does it tell me the printer that's causing the conflict so I can also change those settings.
I get the message when I open a photo and click on print/ more settings. See attached
Please advise, as this was working yesterday and today is not.
Thank you,

Thank you for replying with this detailed response 😉
I appreciate your time and efforts,
It seems to be an issue with the printer driver,
And, I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
Then, Click here to access the HP website, find the drivers compatible with your windows and install it.
If the issue persists, please go ahead and install the windows built-in drivers:
If a full feature driver from HP is not available for your printer, you must install the built-in print driver. A full feature driver for one or more Windows versions is not available for your printer, either from the CD that shipped with your printer or from the HP website.
NOTE:
Where is the download button? The HP print driver is built into the Windows operating system or is installed through the Windows Update feature on your computer. You do not need to download anything from a website in order to print, scan, or fax.
See the Frequently asked questions in this document for additional information, including how to scan using this driver.
CLICK HERE FOR MORE STEPS AND INSTRUCTIONS.
(By the end of this article all the issues should be resolved)
Keep me posted,
If the information I've provided was helpful,
give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,
that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
Good Luck.

Hi. I have just bought an HP 3835 and have the same problem BUT there are no settings in the printer properties or preferences to change from black and white/ greyscale/colour.
I have uninstalled the printer and the software twice and just deleted and reinstalled the printer drivers today - to no avail.
The printer driver is - hpoj_3830.gpd GPD verion 1.0
Please advise.
