Officejet 5230

The ink is low on my officejet 5230 printer and I wish to change it.  However each time I try to open the cover to access the ink cartridges, it opens about 2 to 3 CMs and then a message appears on the display - “The cover or door must be closed to continue. Check that it is completely closed.  Notice: to avoid damage to the cartridges, keep the door closed whenever possible.”

I have switched the printer on and off, I have hard reset by removing the power and restoring it.  Nothing works.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Try connecting the Printer to a different wall outlet directly.

Also, try a firmware update: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

Let me know if this helps.

Hi,

thank you for the suggestions.  I have tried both and nothing has changed.  The printer is running on the latest level of driver / firmware.
