Hi,
I have an Envy 4520 and it’s been great until now where I cannot print anything from any device because it says “gathering printer details” and then defaults to an 3x5 glossy and it prints a tiny image only. I tried to look for drivers but nothing works and there is no way to contact support. Any solutions or is it not upgradable at this point and I should switch brands and buy something new?
Thanks !!

It does not sound broken -- that said, certainly you can switch brands whenever you like. We never judge.
Drivers and "nothing works" might mean something in the context of your Operating System / version. Without that information and not understanding what you are doing to "look for drivers", the driver question remains open.
True - Printer is long out of warranty -- HP Support accepts online submissions for in-Warranty hardware repair.
Your description sounds as if the printer Tray and Paper settings for the paper size & type are set to 3x5 inch paper.
Solution
Change the paper size / paper type in Tray and Paper to the paper you are using now.
Details / How-to / Example
Reload the paper you intend to use
Reference: Open User Guide > Full Size paper >> Starting on Page 9
Note Step 5 After closing the tray, immediately check / adjust the paper size / type on the printer control panel.
OR
Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to check / adjust the paper size / paper type - Tray and Paper
EWS > HP Document / How-to
Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)
EWS – Browser – Tray and Paper Management
Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
Tab Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper (Management)
Select / Adjust settings for Paper Size / Type
Model Dependent: Advanced section
Click Apply to save changes
Tray and Paper – Paper Size / Paper Type / Paper Weight
Reminder
HP Smart Mobile requires that paper size / type is adjusted before the content is opened to be printed.
Paper Size, Type, and Weight loaded in the printer tray must be supported for use in that tray.
EWS provides access and control to check / adjust Tray and Paper Settings.
Example - EWS - Tray and Paper

Thank you for replying with so many options !
i did a diagnostic test with the HP tool that said it was the driver so I went down that path rather quickly but only after I tried all other solutions with regards to settings, connectivity and my OS which is still windows 10.
it has worked diligently for years from our mobile devices but now I can’t print out even a screenshot because the default settings are screwy. I can only use the HP app which is limiting in terms of ease of access. I don’t know why it just now decided to spaz out because all functions work seem to work when I copy a page or scan it or print a test page. Just not anything from a devise I told it to print.
Thank you for the community and specialized help!!
