Hi @Jodan91,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering a frustrating issue with your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printer. Printer failure messages can be caused by various issues, but let's troubleshoot this together.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem.

  • Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a couple of minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on again. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.
  • Check Cartridges: Even though the cartridges are new, they could still be causing the issue. Ensure that they are properly inserted into their respective slots and securely seated.
  • Inspect for Jammed Paper: Sometimes, a small piece of paper or debris might be stuck inside the printer. Open the printer cover and check for any jammed paper or debris. If you find any, carefully remove it.
  • Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Turn off the printer, remove the cartridges, and clean the contacts on both the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water. Make sure they are completely dry before reinstalling them.
  • Reset the Printer: Resetting the printer to its factory settings might help resolve the issue. Look for the reset option in the printer settings menu or consult the printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model on the HP website. Updating the firmware can sometimes fix bugs and compatibility issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
