Hi @Snowflakes24

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 3630 printer is showing an ink empty error even after installing new cartridges, it could be due to a few common issues such as cartridge recognition problems, improper installation, or a temporary software glitch. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and reset the printer:

1. Check Cartridge Installation

Ensure that the cartridges are properly installed:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Open the printer’s ink cartridge door and remove the cartridges.
  • Carefully reinsert the new cartridges, making sure they are seated properly and the ink cartridge clips are secure.
  • Close the cartridge door, plug the printer back in, and turn it on.

2. Reset the Printer

Resetting the printer can often fix issues like ink not being recognized or error messages not clearing. Here’s how to reset the HP DeskJet 3630:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the printer from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

This will reset the printer and can sometimes clear error messages like "Ink is empty."

3. Check Ink Cartridge Compatibility

Make sure the ink cartridges you installed are compatible with your HP DeskJet 3630:

  • The HP DeskJet 3630 uses HP 302 ink cartridges (black and color).
  • If you installed cartridges that are not compatible or the wrong model, the printer may not recognize them correctly.

4. Clean Cartridge Contacts

Sometimes, the ink cartridge contacts might not be making a good connection with the printer. To clean them:

  • Turn off the printer and remove the cartridges.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the copper contacts on the cartridges and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
