Since Iinstalled the latest printer driver I can'tprint to my OfficeJet Pro 9120 printer. It just pops up with an error "Printer error" that goes away so fast I can't see if ther are any details. I have unistalled and reinstalled HP Smart including adding the printer back in HP Smart. When problem was first noticed, I got a message that HP Smart cout print PDFs and jobs were going to the HP Smart printer in Settings. I also tried to change PDFs from gong to HP Smart to the 9120. Still got printer errors. Jobs in the HP Smart queue never printed. Test pages still print.

Hi @pln4,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I can imagine how frustrating it must be to see a vague “Printer error” message disappear before you can even read it, especially after reinstalling HP Smart and trying to redirect PDF jobs correctly. You're doing all the right things, and I’m here to help you get your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e back to printing smoothly.
1. Set the Correct Default Printer
Let’s make sure your real printer is selected:
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Click on HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e.
- Select “Set as default”.
- Make sure HP Smart Print-to-PDF is not set as the default.
2. Clear the HP Smart Print Queue
- Open HP Smart App.
- Go to “Print Queue” and cancel any stuck jobs.
- Restart the app and try printing again.
3. Use Windows Print Dialog Instead of HP Smart
- Open your PDF in Adobe Reader or Edge.
- Press Ctrl + P.
- Select HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e from the printer list.
- Avoid selecting “HP Smart” or “Microsoft Print to PDF”.
4. Reinstall the Full Driver Package
Even if HP Smart is installed, the full driver ensures proper communication: 🔗 HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e All-in-One Printer | HP® Support
- Download the Full Software Solution.
- Run the installer and follow the prompts to repair or reinstall the driver
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
