Hi!

My HP Ink Tan 310 series has a red light next to the black printhead button and Resume button. The power light is not on. It won't do any printing.

Just a few minutes prior to this, I tried to print out a document, but had to cancel because of a paper jam (I have successsfully and carefully pulled it out. No paper is stuck in there). I think  I unplugged the printer while trying to cancel the printing process too, though...

Also, when I try to connect USB cable to my PC, it says that it won't work because of a disruption (probably the above). The Device Manager says "USB Device Descriptor Request Failed". I have tried to update the driver, uninstall, disable fast start-up, etc, but the USB still won't work.

I have used the printer prior to this for maybe five times (it's new, got it a couple of months ago) and have had no problems.

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

It's a pleasure assisting you in finding answers to your technical queries.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Any hardware changes made in the printer?

I suggest you do a Hard Reset

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Run the cleaning test using one of the following methods that work for your printer and wait until the test completes.

  • If your printer has a display, go to the Settings or Tools menu to find and run printhead or ink cartridge cleaning.

  • In HP Print Assistant for Windows, find and run the cleaning test from the Maintain Your Printer section.

  • In HP Solution Center for Windows, find and run the cleaning test from the Printer Toolbox.

  • In the HP Printer Utility for Mac, find and run the cleaning test from the Information and Support panel.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution and Kudos buttons, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Have a great day!

Cheers:)
