HP laser jet 100 color MFP 175nw
macOS 12.0 Monterey

Hello,

I really hope you can help. Last year I printed a fairly complex colour pdf on my  HP Laser Jet 100 color MFP 175nw  but now it refuses to print that same document. It will print other perhaps simpler documents but not this one. It won't even print the first page of this document. I have been trying for a week to get it to print it but it pretends to do it and the icon comes up on my computer and the box tells me it is printing, as does the printer, and then like a puff of smoke, it disappears off my computer and the printer makes a few rumbles as if it's about to print but then gives up. I have deleted the printer, turned everything off, reset the printer, downloaded drivers etc etc multiple time. Tried connecting with usb.  I've even left it off for three days to see if that did anything but the problem remains. I'd be grateful for any help.

Many thanks.

Hi @mandible,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand that you're experiencing difficulty printing a specific complex PDF document on your HP LaserJet 100 color MFP 175nw. Troubleshooting printing issues can involve several steps, so let's go through some potential solutions.

Check PDF File:

  • Make sure the PDF file is not corrupted. Try opening and printing other PDF files to see if the issue persists.
  • If possible, try opening the PDF file on a different computer or device to rule out issues with the file itself.

Print as Image:

  • Open the PDF file using Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat.
  • Go to File > Print.
  • In the Print dialog, check the "Print as Image" option.
  • Try printing the document again.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Make sure you have the latest drivers for your HP LaserJet 100. Visit the official HP website to download and install the latest drivers.

Check Printer Queue:

  • Open the printer queue on your computer and check if the document is stuck in the queue. If so, delete the document from the queue and try printing it again.

Printer Troubleshooter:

  • Use the built-in troubleshooter on your computer to identify and fix any printer-related issues. This varies based on your operating system (e.g., Windows Troubleshooter or Mac Printer Troubleshooter).

Print a Test Page:

  • Print a test page from the printer itself. This will help determine if the issue is with the printer hardware.
  • Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on printing a test page.

Clear Print Spooler (Windows):

  • Open the Run dialog (Windows key + R), type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Locate the Print Spooler service, right-click on it, and select "Stop."
  • Open File Explorer and navigate to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS. Delete all files in this folder.
  • Go back to the Services window, right-click on Print Spooler, and select "Start."

Try Another Software:

  • Attempt to print the document using a different PDF reader or another software application to see if the issue is specific to a particular program.

Firmware Update:

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your HP LaserJet 100. If so, download and install the latest firmware from the official HP support website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you, Aiden. I have managed to print the document on an old Canon printer so at least it is printed. I assume it also means that the document isn't corrupted in any way. My HOP printer did print two pages of the document and then wouldn't print any more. I have downloaded the latest drivers.  I am at a loss really.
