I had to take my printer head out to unclog it but after putting it back together I have noticed my printer head slams hard on the left side of printer (when I face the printer). I have taken the strip out and cleaned it with a lint free cloth. The strip has a dot on the left side and a dot on the right side. I must be missing something as it did not bang like this before. Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

What was the original issue that requires the print head to be removed?  (which by the way, is not customer replaceable)

With the printer head slamming the left side, it's an indication that the printer does not know the exact position of the carridge.

It could be that the encode strip is not installed properly (not put correctly into the carriage).

Would advise to contact HP for support if the printer is still under warranty:

Thanks.

Thanks for your reply, as stated in the first message, my printer head has clogged. I was trying to fix it. For the record the printer is not in warranty or I would have contacted HP for a replacement. Since the Head does come out of the printer why are they not replaceable?
