Hi @Mosside039,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Smart Tank Plus 555 Wireless All-in-One printer is showing a "Printer in error state" message, and you've already tried basic troubleshooting. Here are some targeted steps you can take to resolve the issue:

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

  1. Power Cycle the Printer
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    • Wait for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

  2. Check for Error Indicators on the Control Panel
  3. Use the HP Smart App’s Diagnose & Fix Tool
  4. Check Connection Type
    • If you're using Wi-Fi, ensure the printer is connected to the same network as your PC.
    • Try switching to a USB connection temporarily to rule out network issues.

  5. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers
  6. Check for Print Queue Errors
    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click your printer > See what’s printing > Cancel all documents.
    • Then right-click again > Set as default printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
