Hi @Bokerns123,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610, where the printer is displaying an error related to the ink or the printer itself. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and wait for about 30 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on again.
  • Check if the error message still appears.

Check the Ink Cartridges

  • Open the ink cartridge access door and check if the ink cartridges are properly installed.
  • Remove and reinsert the cartridges to ensure they are seated correctly.
  • If you have any old or empty ink cartridges, try replacing them with new ones to rule out the possibility of faulty ink.

Clean the Ink Cartridge Contacts

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the ink cartridges.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently clean the copper-colored contacts inside the printer and on the cartridges.
  • Reinstall the ink cartridges and power the printer back on.

Check for Paper Jams

  • Open the paper tray and the printer's access door to check for any paper jams or obstructions.
  • Remove any jammed paper carefully and ensure there is no debris inside the printer.

Perform a Printer Reset

  • If the issue persists, try performing a hard reset:
    1. Turn off the printer.
    2. Unplug the printer from the wall outlet.
    3. Wait for 1-2 minutes.
    4. Plug it back in and turn it on.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Sometimes, a firmware update can resolve issues.
  • Check if there's an available firmware update for your printer by visiting the HP support website and entering your printer's model number.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
