If I unplug and plug back in the printer it will work fine for a while. But after a few hours the printer will still be on (lights are on) but the screen will be unresponsive and the printer no longer shows up on the network. I have to unplug and plug back in the printer to get it to work again.

Hi @Justin3d,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
It sounds quite frustrating to deal with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 printer becoming unresponsive after a few hours, especially when you have to keep unplugging it to regain functionality. I understand how disruptive this can be for your printing tasks.
Here are a few questions to help narrow down the issue:
- Have you noticed any specific patterns regarding when the printer becomes unresponsive (e.g., after printing, scanning, or being idle)?
- Are you using a wired connection or a wireless connection to your network, and have you tried switching to the other type to see if it makes a difference?
Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take to try to resolve the issue:
Check Power Settings: Ensure that the printer's sleep mode or energy-saving settings are not set too aggressively. You can adjust these settings from the printer's control panel under Setup > Preferences > Sleep Timer.
Update Firmware: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or the HP website. An outdated firmware version could cause performance issues.
Reset Network Settings: If you're using a wireless connection, consider resetting the printer’s network settings. Go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore Network Defaults, and then reconnect to your Wi-Fi network.
Check for Interference: Ensure that there are no devices nearby that might be interfering with the Wi-Fi signal, such as microwaves or cordless phones. Ideally, place the printer closer to the router if possible.
Perform a Hard Reset: If the problem persists, perform a hard reset of the printer.
Turn off the printer,
unplug it from the power source,
wait for about 60 seconds,
plug it back in, and then power it on.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
