My HP OfficeJetPro 9125e printer that is new is stuck on Validating Ink for over 24 hours.   I have printed five pages on newly installed printer and cartridges. I have turned off the, taken out the cartridges, reinstalled and the message is still there. What are my options?

HI @Menlys,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e is stuck on "Validating Ink," here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

1. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 5 minutes.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the printer's internal processes.

2. Check Cartridge Installation

  • Make sure the ink cartridges are properly installed. Remove them and inspect for any protective tape or packaging that may not have been removed.
  • Reinstall the cartridges carefully, ensuring they click into place securely.

3. Clean the Contacts

  • Turn off the printer and remove the cartridges.
  • Using a lint-free cloth, gently wipe the copper contacts on both the cartridges and the printer. Ensure there’s no dust or residue that might interfere with the connection.

4. Update Printer Firmware

  • Ensure your printer has the latest firmware. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP support website.

5. Reset the Printer to Factory Settings

  • If the problem persists, you may consider resetting the printer to factory settings. Check the printer's manual or HP's website for instructions on how to do this.

6. Use the HP Smart App

  • If you have the HP Smart app installed on your device, try using it to check the printer status and see if it offers any troubleshooting options.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
