Hi @Fare9911,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

The issues you're experiencing with your HP Smart Tank 7301 All-In-One printer—making a jet-like noise and jamming—could be due to a variety of factors. Here’s a systematic approach to troubleshoot and resolve these problems:

1. Address the Jet-Like Noise

The noise you're hearing could be related to mechanical issues or internal components. Here’s how to address it:

Check for Obstructions:

  • Open the Printer: Open the printer’s access doors and look for any obstructions in the paper path or inside the printer.
  • Remove Any Jammed Paper: Carefully remove any paper or foreign objects that may be causing the noise.

Inspect the Paper Path:

  • Check Rollers: Examine the rollers for any debris or damage. Clean them gently with a lint-free cloth moistened with water if they are dirty.

Verify Printer Mechanisms:

  • Listen Carefully: Try to identify where the noise is coming from. It could be a problem with the carriage or the paper feed mechanism.
  • Check Carriage Movement: Ensure the print carriage moves smoothly across the printer. If it is obstructed or making unusual noises, it may need realignment or service.

Check the Printer's Installation:

  • Flat Surface: Ensure the printer is on a flat, stable surface. Uneven surfaces can sometimes cause mechanical issues.

2. Resolve Paper Jamming Issues

Paper jams can be caused by a variety of issues including incorrect paper type, paper feed problems, or internal issues:

Check Paper Type and Size:

  • Correct Paper: Use the recommended paper type and size for your printer.
  • Proper Loading: Make sure the paper is loaded correctly in the input tray and is aligned properly.

Inspect and Clean Paper Path:

  • Remove Paper Jams: If paper is jammed, gently remove it from the printer. Avoid tearing the paper.
  • Clean Paper Path: Use a lint-free cloth to clean any dust or debris in the paper path.

Examine Paper Rollers:

  • Check Rollers: Look for any damage or wear on the paper rollers. Replace them if necessary.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Update Firmware: Visit the HP Support website and check if there are any firmware updates for your printer. Installing the latest firmware can resolve many issues.

Kindly find the next steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Fare9911,

Please find the next set of steps below.

3. Address Printing Issues (e.g., Double-Sided Printing)

If the printer won’t print double-sided, this could be due to a setting issue or a hardware malfunction:

Check Printer Settings:

  • Printer Preferences: Go to the printer settings on your computer and check the print preferences. Ensure double-sided printing (duplex) is enabled if your printer supports it.
  • HP Smart App: Check settings in the HP Smart app as well.

Verify Duplex Functionality:

  • Printer Capabilities: Ensure your HP Smart Tank 7301 supports automatic duplex printing. If not, you may need to manually flip the pages.

Reconfigure Network Settings:

  • Network Connection: Since you had issues connecting to the internet, ensure that the printer is properly connected to your network. This might involve reconfiguring the network settings in the printer’s control panel.

4. Perform a Printer Reset

If you’ve tried the above steps and the issues persist, performing a reset can sometimes resolve underlying problems:

Turn Off and Unplug:

  • Power Off: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait: Wait for about 60 seconds.

Power On:

  • Plug In and Turn On: Plug the printer back in and turn it on. Check if the issues are resolved.

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it might be a more serious hardware problem. I recommend you contact phone support.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
