HP ENVY Pro 6455 All-in-One Printer

I was making copies and all of a sudden the printing stopped and all the lights on the control panel started blinking. There is no paper jam, and I can't shut it off. Any ideas on how to resolve this problem?

Hi @Bclar,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your printer's control panel starts blinking without a clear reason like a paper jam, and it won't shut off, it might indicate a few possible issues. Here’s a step-by-step approach you can take to troubleshoot:

Reset the Printer:

  • Unplug the Printer: Since you mentioned that you can't shut it off, try unplugging the printer from the power source directly.
  • Wait for a Few Minutes: Leave the printer unplugged for about 3 to 5 minutes. This can help clear any residual power in the device and potentially reset any errors.
  • Reconnect and Test: Plug the printer back in, turn it on, and see if the issue persists.

Check the Error Lights:

  • Error Codes/Patterns: Different patterns of blinking lights can be indicative of specific issues. Consult your printer's manual or the manufacturer's website to decode what the blinking lights might be signaling.

Inspect Printer Internals:

  • Check for Hidden Jams: Sometimes small pieces of paper or debris might not be immediately visible but could still trigger sensors. Open up all accessible panels and take another thorough look.
  • Ensure Proper Seating of Cartridges: If your printer uses ink or toner cartridges, make sure they are installed correctly and securely.

Software and Driver Check:

  • Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that your printer drivers are up-to-date on your computer. You can download the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website.
  • Restart Your Computer: Sometimes the issue can be with the communication between your computer and the printer. Restarting your computer might resolve this issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
