HP 8710
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

I have been struggling with trying to stop this printer printing everything double sided. I am printing most frequently from Adobe Acrobat reader. I am using Mac OSX High Sierra 10.13.6
I have read tutuorials and websites, I have read similar question threads on this forum, and tried to follow all the instructions. I have looked up every print setting prior to printing EACH JOB, and it STILL PRINTS TWO SIDED.
I am about one print job away from throwing this printer out. this is an enormous waste of ink, and HP doesn't even allow this printer to take cartridges from refills, they have to be new genuine HP. It feels awfully scammy to have a printer that continues to print double sided and waste all your ink- then force people to buy the most expensive ink available because it ignores your option selections and runs thru the ink twice as fast.

I will warn anyone reading this, its a terrible printer and has put me off HP products all together.

I am posting this and will attach screenshots of the exact settings that are selected in my print options. It makes no difference, the printer will not print only one sided unless i print one page at a time. Screen Shot 2019-04-29 at 2.21.46 PM.pngPrinter button selection menuPrinter button selection menuDrop down to allow me to view presetsDrop down to allow me to view presetsScreen Shot 2019-04-29 at 2.23.06 PM.pngScreen Shot 2019-04-29 at 2.23.17 PM.pngScreen Shot 2019-04-29 at 2.23.40 PM.png

@reckless31, Welcome to HP Support Community!

To provide you with an accurate solution, I would like to know the following:

  • Are you able to print single-sided on other applications except for Adobe Acrobat Reader?
  • When was the last time it printed single-sided?
  • On the fourth picture that you've attached, the default settings show two-sided is on, did you try disabling it on the default settings and try printing?

Please ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with its software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Mac software:

Update printer firmware

Update software on Mac

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign  to delete the printer.

3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button  at the bottom of the list.

4.) Click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.

Select AirPrint from the Use menu

6.) Try to print.

Let me know the outcome.

Cheers 🙂
