I have an hp envy 4500 printer and have never had a problem printing wirelessly. I typically print from my Apple iPhone. I just started having a problem. The printer keeps saying printer is busy. I've unplugged and plugged it back in as per the instructions. Now it just seems to not be connecting at all.

Hi @DiannL2,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing issues with your HP Envy 4500 printer not connecting wirelessly and displaying a "printer is busy" message, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem. Here's a step-by-step guide.
Check Printer Status:
- Make sure there are no paper jams, low ink, or any other hardware issues that could be causing the problem. Ensure the printer is in a ready state.
Restart Your Printer:
- Turn off your printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. This can often resolve temporary connectivity issues.
Restart Your Wireless Router:
- If the printer and iPhone are not communicating, try restarting your wireless router. This can sometimes resolve network-related issues.
Check Wireless Connection:
- Ensure that your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone. You may need to reconfigure the wireless settings on your printer.
Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi:
- On the printer's control panel, navigate to the wireless settings and reconnect it to your Wi-Fi network. Follow the printer's manual for specific instructions on how to do this.
Forget and Reconnect Wi-Fi on iPhone:
- On your iPhone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi, and forget the current Wi-Fi network. Then reconnect to the Wi-Fi network and enter the password if required.
Update Firmware:
- Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. Visit the HP support website, enter your printer model, and download the latest firmware if available.
Reset Printing System (iOS):
- On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will remove all network settings, including Wi-Fi passwords. After resetting, reconnect to your Wi-Fi network.
Update Printer Drivers:
- Ensure that your printer drivers are up-to-date. Visit the HP support website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
Printer Software Issues:
- Sometimes, issues can arise from the printer software. Uninstall the printer software on your iPhone and reinstall it from the App Store.
Check for Interference:
- Other electronic devices or networks in the vicinity might interfere with your printer's wireless signal. Move the printer to a location with fewer electronic devices or try changing the Wi-Fi channel on your router.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
