Changed ink cartages. Went to print something and computer stated "Printer open" and wont print. I checked the lid and it was completely closed. There is nothing blocking it. No icon is lit. Printer wont print.

Hi @Bee111000 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Deskjet 5650 is displaying a "Printer open" message despite the lid being completely closed and there being no visible obstructions,
here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
Check for Lid Sensor Issue:
- Sometimes, the lid sensor can be stuck or malfunctioning. Ensure that the sensor is not obstructed by any debris or ink residue. You might need to gently clean around the sensor area with a soft cloth.
Inspect the Carriage Path:
- Make sure there’s nothing blocking the carriage path that might cause the printer to think the lid is open. Check for any small pieces of paper or foreign objects.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 60 seconds. Then plug it back in and turn it on to see if the issue is resolved.
Recheck Ink Cartridges:
- Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed. Remove them, check for any protective tape or packaging that might have been missed, and reinstall them securely.
Update Printer Drivers:
- Sometimes, outdated or corrupted drivers can cause communication issues. Check for and install any available updates for your printer drivers from the HP website.
Perform a Printer Diagnostic:
- Use the built-in diagnostic tools or HP's online diagnostic tools to identify any potential issues with your printer.
