I have an HP Officejet Pro 9015 that when powered up initially goes to align the printhead. When the process is started it, is shows "Printing the alignment page" and just sits there without printing a page. I even left it on overnight with anything printing out. I do not have any other display icons the back out of the process other than to shut down. I have tried power cycling but that does not do anything. At this point I would like to factory reset the printer to see if that restores it, but all documentation follows the menu screen that I cannot access.  Holding the power button when plugging in the AC outlet allows for the back button and home button to display, but the rest of the screen is dark. Pressing the buttons individually or in various combinations does not work.

Is there another process to factory reset?

Hi @donw1-_,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Officejet Pro 9015 is stuck at the "Printing the alignment page" screen and isn't progressing, you can try the following steps to attempt to resolve the issue:

Cancel the Alignment Process:

  • Although the screen is stuck, try pressing the Cancel button on the control panel to see if it cancels the alignment process and allows you to access other functions.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Make sure there are no paper jams in any part of the printer. Open all accessible doors and remove any stuck paper.

Reset the Printer:

  • With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the outlet and wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the outlet and then into the printer.
  • Turn the printer back on to see if it clears the alignment process.

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door and ensure that all cartridges are properly seated. Reseat them if necessary to ensure good contact.

Perform a Basic Printer Reset:

  • Disconnect all peripheral devices if connected, such as USB cables.
  • Perform the power cycle process described above again to ensure the printer resets fully.
  • You can try to factory reset the printer if the display is frozen from HP app by following the steps mentioned on the video guide: https://youtu.be/p1pDnvLSY_w

I hope this helps !

Take care and have a blissful day 😇
