In the last week or so my printer (OfficeJet Pro 8715 - which I think is just the InstantInk version of the 8710) has started a weird error.
Out of nowhere, it makes the noises as thought it is about to print. You can hear it whirring as thought it is grabbing paper, and it sounds as though the printer cartridges are moving back and forth along their track.
The screen does not come on during this time, and nothing actually prints. However, I have checked and nobdoy is even attempting to send anything to the printer.
Do I need to be concerned? I've had it for a few years now (3 or 4 years, I think?) and it didn't previously do it.

@Paul_P_UK, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Once in a while the printer performs maintenance to clean the ink nozzles in the printer due to which the motions inside the printer is normal. However, if you have this issue every day, we will have to troubleshoot on the issue.
Make sure the printer is connected to a secure home network.
Reset the printer
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.
Update the printer firmware
Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your computer.

perform the steps from this document - Paper Jam Error
Ont he printer, go to Setup > Preferences > Sleep mode > Set it to 15 minutes.
