We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊

The error code -128 indicates a connectivity issue with your HP printer. Here are some steps to resolve this issue:

  1. Check Network Connection:

    • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to the network, whether wired or wireless.
    • Verify that your network is working correctly. You can try restarting your router or checking other devices connected to the same network.
  2. Printer Restart:

    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    • Wait for about 30 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on.
  3. Firmware Update:

    • Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates via the HP printer software or the printer's control panel.
  4. Verify Printer Settings:

    • Go through the printer settings to confirm everything is configured correctly, especially the wireless settings.
    • Run a network test from the printer to check connectivity.
  5. Reconnect to Network:

    • If using Wi-Fi, consider re-entering the network credentials (SSID and password) to reconnect to the network.

Hope this helps!
