Just hooked up this printer to a Mac Mini late 2012 4gb ram, 2.5 GHZ Intel processor, IOS 10.11.5 I keep getting "Printer not found" error message. Yet printer is hooked to USB port and marked as default printer. Have to pull plug and power printer on again, then it works. Please advise, I downloaded drivers, am I missing something?
PS HP website says printer out of warranty in 2015. For 3 years we used it just as a copy machine at a business.

Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
Next, reset the printing system:
- Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
- Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and then next to the "Use" pulldown, select the printer model (not AirPrint). Wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
