Hi there. My printer prints a test page and prints other Word documents but for some reason isn't printing one specific Word document I need printed. I even tried copying and pasting the text of the Word file into a new Word file in case the original one was corrupted somehow but I have the same problem with the new one. When I click Print, the printer spools up but then just gives the double chime as if the print job was done but doesn't actually print anything. A minute later it spits out a plane piece of paper. Does anyone know what's going on?

PS. I went through the whole virtual agent program and it couldn't help. I also did the HP Print and Scan Doctor and it didn't help.

Welcome to the HP Community.

Word documents are susceptible to errors transferred into the document from the template.

Versions of Word differ from one another - which version of Word you are using might influence the outcome.

Other issues can be the result of the particular structure of the individual document.

A few of the places to check / adjust the document are included in this post.

Your best option

Check with Microsoft Office Support to find a solution that will work best for your document.

Start with the Word document...

Open the offending Word document:

  • Change the font from whatever it is to a common font for your region (for example, HP Simplified Light, Calibri, Arial).
  • Copy just a portion of the document to a new Word document > open the new file Check the Style  settings.
  • File > Info > Inspect Document
  • Export the file to PDF format - Try printing the PDF file.

What else?

The Doctor is completely unaware of Word or the document structure of a particular file.

If you believe the issue is a result of a problem in the printer software, you can certainly choose to reinstall the printer software.

Example - Basics

  • First, Uninstall the existing printer software from Programs and Features
  • Download and save the Full Feature Software installation package
  • Restart the computer and log in
  • Install a fresh copy of the driver
