I was going to print some papers for reviewer for my upcoming quiz, it was okay when I turned it on, when my mom asked me to do something for her and came back after a few second, it displayed "F", now it can't print and can't be connected to the Wi-Fi, and its displayed as offline, I tried doing the restart thing by pressing on the power and Wi-Fi for 3s but it just won't work..(P.S when i press the power button, lights start to blink.)

Hi @kenmamae,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "F" displayed on the control panel of your HP printer typically indicates a hardware error or failure, and it can be a sign that the printer is experiencing a more serious issue. Here’s a structured approach to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

1. Basic Checks

Power Cycle:

  • Turn Off: Power off the printer using the power button.
  • Unplug: Disconnect the printer from the power source.
  • Wait: Leave it unplugged for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug In: Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

Check Connections:

  • Ensure all Cables: Verify that all cables, including power and data cables, are securely connected.

2. Check for Error Codes

  1. Refer to the Printer Manual:
    • Consult Manual: Look up the error code "F" in your printer’s user manual or on the HP support website. The manual might provide specific guidance related to this error.

3. Printer Display and Lights

  1. Interpret Lights and Display:
    • Observe Lights: If the power button lights blink, it often indicates a problem. The pattern of blinking lights can help diagnose the issue.
    • Display Check: Look for any other symbols or messages on the display that might give more information.

4. Network and Connectivity Issues

Check Wi-Fi Connection:

  • Reboot Router: Restart your Wi-Fi router to resolve any connectivity issues.
  • Reconnect Printer: Try reconnecting the printer to the Wi-Fi network through the printer’s control panel or settings menu.

Printer Status:

  • Check Printer Status: Ensure that the printer is set to "Online" and not in a "Sleep" or "Offline" mode.

5. Reset Printer

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Power and Wi-Fi Button: If the standard restart didn’t work, try holding down the power button for 15 seconds to perform a hard reset.

Factory Reset:

  • Access Settings: If the printer allows, navigate to the settings menu to perform a factory reset. Note that this will erase all settings and restore default configurations.

6. Diagnostic Tools and Software

  1. HP Print and Scan Doctor:
    • Download Tool: Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from HP’s website to diagnose and fix common issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Unfortunately, none of those helped with the issue, the hard reset doesn't work at all, or any other type of reset at that, the only sign of lights blinking is when the power button is pressed, if it wasn't pressed then no lights blink. When i did all of those reset steps provided, it just goes back to "F"
