Officejet 6100
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

So i have a Officejet 6100 (CB863A) and for some reason every time i try to print, i'll only get a blank piece of paper.

The ink cartridges are brand new and the printer also reports that they are completely full.

But it still doesn't print anything except blank pieces of paper.

I've tried the clean head option of the printer multiple times with no success.

Oh, i should probably also add that the printer hasn't been used in a long time, could that be a issue?

There is also no issue with the connection between my computer and the printer, since the printer does respond to print requests and also tries to print them, but it is still blank

Any help would be appriciated! 🙂

(also, I forgot the password of the printer, is there a way to recover/reset the password?)

Thanks for responding,

It's great to have you back 😉

Let's print a print quality report and check how it prints,

• Control panel: Press and hold the (Power) button, press the (Cancel) button seven times, press the (Resume) button two times, and then release the (Power) button.

To remove the password prompt from EWS page, follow these steps:

To reset the administrator password and network settings, press and hold (Wireless) button and (Cancel) button for three seconds

Then re-connect the printer to a network, following steps from the link: https://hp.care/2I7IoQL.

Let me know how this goes,

Cheers 🙂

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand, your printer does not print. It gives blank pages,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

When was the last time it worked fine?

Did you make any hardware/software changes?

How is the photocopy quality?

Could you share the picture of the screen where it's asking for a password?

Let's try these steps to resolve the issue. Click the link: https://hp.care/2wyyz6l.

Solution one: Use genuine HP cartridges

Solution two: Allow automatic servicing to complete

Solution three: Check the paper

Solution four: Check the print settings

Solution five: Check the ink levels, and then replace the depleted cartridges

Solution six: Print and evaluate a Print Quality Diagnostic Page and troubleshoot defects

Solution seven: Check the image

Solution eight: Replace the problem cartridge

Let me know how this goes,

For I shall follow-up on this case to ensure the concern has been addressed,

And your device is up and running again,

Have a great day 🙂

Cheers 🙂

Hi!

I think the printer worked fine about a year ago, but that was also the last time i used it since we don't print a lot.

I didn't make any changes to the hardware of software of the printer. it's still all factory original except the ink cartridges.

I sadly can't answer the question How is the photocopy quality?  since I can't print anything

Oh and here is the screenshot of the page where it requires a password before I am able to change some settings of the printer.

I Hope this is enough information for you to help me 🙂

Hi again,

So i tried the print quality report and i noticed it printed a little bit on the page, but most of it was blank.

I then tried the clean process again and suddenly it was able to print an entire page again! :Surprise:

I'm finally able to print again! 🙂

I'm going to reset the administrator password today and reconfigure the printer again.

Thanks for all the help! 🙂
